CMV is seeking motivated trainee clerks who are currently studying or planning to study Accounting. Our programme is designed to help you become a Professional Accountant through our partnership with The South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA).
Academic requirements
To qualify, you need a bachelor’s degree from a SAIPA-accredited institution, including these core subjects:
- Financial Accounting 3
- Taxation 1
- Auditing 1, Internal Auditing 2, or Internal Control and Code of Ethics
- Corporate Law 1 or Commercial Law 2
- Management Accounting 1 (Financial Management 1)
Practical experience
You must complete one of the following practical training options:
Supervised Training
Three years of supervised training at an Accredited. Training Centre (ATC), documented in the official SAIPA training logbook, updated regularly by the trainee and the ATC Principal, and monitored annually by a SAIPA-nominated Monitoring Officer. (CMV is a registered Accredited Training Centre.)
Alternative Training Programme
Completion of a training programme from another accredited professional accountancy body (e.g., SAICA).
Professional Evaluation Examination (PE)
The PE examination assesses your ability to apply academic knowledge to practical scenarios. Upon meeting academic and practical requirements, you may apply to take the PE exam. Passing the exam allows you to register as a Professional Accountant (SA), provided you also pay the entrance and membership fees.
Continued Professional Development (CPD)
As a SAIPA member, you will need to engage in ongoing CPD to keep your skills and knowledge up to date through additional courses and resources.
